The Shortlist Atlas Terms of Use
Effective 18 October 2026.
1. Who you are agreeing with
These terms are an agreement between you and The Shortlist Atlas LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company that makes The Shortlist Atlas, and Popquarry Productions Limited Liability Company, a Wyoming limited liability company at 30 N Gould St Ste N, Sheridan, Wyoming 82801, which publishes the iPhone app on the App Store. In these terms, “we” means both.
They cover The Shortlist Atlas app for iPhone, its research and dossiers, and the Atlas PDFs sold at theshortlistatlas.com. By using any of them you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use them.
2. Who may use it
You must be at least 13 to use the app. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you and approve any purchase.
3. What the Atlas is
The Shortlist Atlas is a travel planner and an editorial research library. It plans trips across whole countries, and its Atlases study small towns for people considering a visit, a longer stay, a second home or a move.
4. Research, not advice
Please read this before you rely on any Atlas. The Atlas is information and opinion. It is not legal, tax, immigration, real estate or financial advice, and using it creates no professional relationship.
- No guarantee of results. We do not guarantee any outcome, including property values, rental income, visa or residence approval, tax treatment, safety, opening hours or travel times.
- Laws change. Countries, regions and towns change their laws, taxes, visa routes, fees, timetables and hazard maps, sometimes without notice. Each Atlas is dated and describes the rules as of that date.
- You verify before you act. It is your responsibility to confirm every rule, price and condition with the relevant authority and your own licensed professionals before you rely on it or spend money.
- Your decisions are yours. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for decisions you make, or losses that follow, from using the Atlas.
- Buying property abroad carries legal, structural, natural-hazard, financial and personal risk. Before committing money, engage a local licensed lawyer or notary, a surveyor or engineer, and a cross-border tax adviser.
- Places, tours and events listed in the app are run by others. Check with the operator before you go, including about step-free access.
We accept no commissions, referral fees or payments from any town, program, agency or seller we cover.
5. Subscriptions, the Trip Pass and automatic renewal
The app is free to download. Traveler and Atlas Member are paid subscriptions, monthly or annual. The Trip Pass is a single purchase that lasts 30 days.
- The price, the period and what is included are shown in the app before you buy.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you turn off automatic renewal at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- If a free trial is offered, it is shown before you buy. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid the first charge.
- The Trip Pass does not renew. Nothing is charged after the 30 days.
- We may change prices. A change applies from your next period, and Apple will tell you before it takes effect.
6. How to cancel, and refunds
Cancel in your Apple Account: Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions, or Manage subscription in the app. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the period you paid for ends.
Apple handles refunds for purchases in the app. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If Apple refuses and you believe that is wrong, email support@theshortlistatlas.com and we will help where we can.
Atlas PDFs bought at theshortlistatlas.com are sold through that site's checkout. For a problem with a PDF order, email support@theshortlistatlas.com with your order number.
7. Our content
The research, dossiers, town orderings, maps, photographs, text and design are owned by The Shortlist Atlas LLC or its licensors. Buying access gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to read and use them for your own planning. You may not republish, resell or scrape them, or use them to train a machine learning system, without our written permission.
Some research and drafting is carried out with AI tools, directed and reviewed by our editors. The judgments and the responsibility are ours.
8. Acceptable use
Do not interfere with the app, try to reach parts of it you are not entitled to, or copy its sealed dossier files out of the app.
9. Our part
We will make a reasonable effort to keep the app working, to fix problems and errors that are reported, and to correct research that is shown to be wrong in the next content update.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
Except where the law does not allow it, the app and the research are provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any information is complete or current.
11. Limit of our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data or losses from property, travel or relocation decisions, arising out of your use of the Atlas.
Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the Atlas in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred United States dollars.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
12. Ending it
You may stop using the Atlas and delete the app at any time. We may end or suspend access if you break these terms. Sections 4, 7, 10, 11 and 13 survive the end of this agreement.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Wyoming, and you and we consent to that jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not remove any right you have to bring a claim where you live.
14. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms we will change the effective date above. If a change materially reduces what you get, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Atlas after that means you accept the change.
15. If you got the app from Apple
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, and where it conflicts with these terms, these terms govern to the extent Apple allows.
- Apple has no obligation to provide any support or maintenance for the app.
- If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may tell Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price. To the maximum extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation at all.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for any claim about the app, including product liability, any failure to meet a legal requirement, and any claim under consumer protection or privacy law.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for investigating and resolving any third-party claim that the app infringes that party's intellectual property rights.
- You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a United States Government embargo, or designated as a terrorist supporting country, and that you are not on any United States Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and on your acceptance Apple has the right to enforce them against you.
16. Android
The Shortlist Atlas is available for iPhone. There is no Android version today. If one is released on Google Play, these terms will be updated to cover it before it is offered.
17. General
If a provision is held unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer this agreement; we may transfer it to a successor of the business. These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between us about The Shortlist Atlas.
